The Supreme Court on Thursday issued non bailable warrant against Sahara India chairman Subrata Roy for not appearing before the court. According to reports, Roy has to be produced in the court on March 4, 2012.

SC on Tuesday rejected Subrata Roy’s plea seeking exemption from appearing in person before the court of law. SC is hearing the case in connection with the failure of his companies to refund Rs. 20,000 crore to investors.

Roy's plea was presented before a bench comprising justices K S Radhakrishnan and J S Khehar, which said he has to appear on Wednesday. Senior advocate Ram Jethmalani, defending Roy, submitted that he will make the payment and he may be distanced with personal appearance in the court.

The bench had on 20 February come down heavily on the Sahara group for not refunding Rs. 20,000 crore of investors, despite its order.
