The Central Bureau of Investigation has submitted its latest report in the Ishrat Jahan encounter case to special CBI court in which it has given clean chit to Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s close aide Amit Shah.

The Supreme Court, last month, dismissed a petition, which sought to begin criminal prosecution and contempt proceedings against a member of Special Investigation Team (SIT).

This team was constituted to investigate the Ishrat Jahan alleged fake encounter case that took place in Gujarat. The plea was filed by Gopinath Pillai, father of Pranesh Pillai alias Javed Sheikh, who was also killed in the case in June, 2004 in Ahmedabad.
