Prime Minister Manmohan Singh To Resign On Saturday As Narendra Modi-Powered BJP Sweeps India

Election Result

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, whose reign as India’s first premier since Jawaharlal Nehru to complete consecutive terms in office, is all set to resign on Saturday following an embarrassing defeat of the incumbent Congress Party at the hands of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that looks set to breach the 300-seat barrier.

Singh, whose 10-year tenure at helm was marked with frustrating periods of inexplicable silence, will step down from the post of Prime Minister at 12:30 PM on May 17, television reports claimed. He is also expected to adress the nation.
