According to sources, the Maharashtra government on Tuesday
decided to suspend Deputy Inspector General of Police, Sunil Paraskar,
accused of raping a 25-year-old model in Mumbai.
The decision came after Director General of Maharashtra police sent
a damning report on the Paraskar episode to the home ministry.
The proposal to suspend the deputy inspector general
(DIG-protection of civil rights units) was sent to Maharashtra Chief
Minister Prithviraj Chavan.
