After Security Threat To PM Modi, Delhi On High-Alert And Red Fort Area On High Alert

The ramparts of Red Fort are ready to witness Prime Minister Narendra Modi's maiden address to the nation on the occasion of 68th Independence Day on August 15.

 

Heavy security arrangements have been made in and around the historic Mughal-era monument. In view of the life threat to the prime minister from several terrorist outfits, security agencies of the country have sounded a red alert in the national capital and security apparatus has been scaled up this time. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) itself is monitoring the preparations.

Landslide Hits Uttarakhand Again: Five Washed Away In Heavy Rain

Five people including two children were killed on Monday in rain-related incidents in Uttarakhand which received light to medium rainfall in its various parts, resulting in landslides that also obstructed national highways in the hill state.
 
Four persons including two children and a woman were washed away while crossing a seasonal drain in Rishikesh, police said.

Floods affect nearly 10 lakh people in Odisha, 34 dead

Flood waters engulfed vast areas of the delta region of Mahanadi river system in Odisha even as the death toll due to heavy rains and floods in the state climbed to 34.

 

As many as 9.95 lakh people in 1,553 villages of 89 blocks in 23 districts have so far been affected due to the floods, the Special Relief Commissioner said on Thursday.
