Floods affect nearly 10 lakh people in Odisha, 34 dead

Flood waters engulfed vast areas of the delta region of Mahanadi river system in Odisha even as the death toll due to heavy rains and floods in the state climbed to 34.

PM Narendra Modi's Flight Was On Same Route As MH17 Just An Hour Behind

The ill-fated MH-17 flight crashed over Ukraine on Thursday with 298 people on board including crew members. It is learnt that the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi could have been at the same place just an hour later as his flight was supposed to follow the same corridor.

However, it has also been clarified by the government that that there had been no danger to life of the PM. It said that there was no threat to Modi’s aircraft Air Force One. It flew the PM back from Germany over the same airspace where Malaysian flight crashed.

Finance Minister P Chidambaram tabled down Vote-on-Account in the Parliament today.
 
Unlike past years, Chidambaram presented Vote-on-Account this time rather than a Full Budget.
 
For all those unfamiliar with the term ‘Vote-on-Account’, here is a small article clearly differentiating the former from ‘Full Budget’.
 
As the incumbent government lacks adequate time in order to vote for a full budget before the new financial year begins, Vote-on-Account is a temporary fiscal measure which guarantees enough funds are at disposal of the incumbent government so that it can run the country, till the time fresh government takes seat after elections.

BUDGET CONDOMS set to flood Indian market

New Delhi: Premium condom market industry is in panic mode as drug pricing authority has set price cap of Rs. 6.50. According to industry reports, premium condom market in India is already one-fifth of the global pricing. If the drug pricing order stays than many features of premium condoms will vanish and no more innovative products will be introduced in India because of the cost factor.

According to a report in The Economic Times, the manufacturers are not taking this lying down. Almost all the companies that sell premium prophylactics - TTK Protective Devices (Skore), JK Ansell (KamaSutra), Reckitt Benckiser (Durex, Kohinoor) and Mankind (Manforce) - have challenged the condom pricing order of the National Pharma Pricing Authority (NPPA), a government official told ET.

Modi Vs Mulayam

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh holds the key when it comes to forming government in Delhi. CAG interrogates pvt discom officials in Delhi

New Delhi:  Teams from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India visited the offices of the three private discoms in Delhi to begin with the audit of their financial records on request of the incumbent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the national capital.

German woman alleges rape in a Chennai bound train

Chennai: A German woman, who is a social worker in Udipi, alleged of rape on January 10. The woman was travelling in a Chennai bound West Coach Express. She boarded the train on a reservation against cancellation ticket.
                                                       
She has alleged that Chandan Kumar who also shared the berth with her in the train raped her near the Kozhikode area on the night of January 10.Read more
