Narendra Modi in TIME’s ‘Person of the Year’ poll

New Delhi: International magazine TIME has included BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate, Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi is among the shortlisted candidates for its 'Person of the Year' title this year. Interestingly, Modi is second only to teen sensation Miley Cyrus in the list in the ongoing public voting. Four-month-old Prince George is among the 41 other luminaries in the list.
                                   
According to the poll results, Miley Cyrus and Narendra went much ahead of whistle-blower Edward Snowden (currently in refuge in Russia) who had was leading the poll last week. Leading the poll, Miley Cyrus has 24.8% votes followed by Narendra Modi with 14.4% votes. Snowden has come down to 8.2% votes. Chidambaram takes on Modi, says rupee value fell under NDA rule

New Delhi: Taking on Narendra Modi for claiming that the value of the rupee did not fall during NDA rule, finance minister P Chidambaram on Wednesday said this was yet another item in the "collection" of history lessons from the Gujarat chief minister.
                                  

Referring to Modi's reported remarks that then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee did not let the value of the rupee fall, he said the exchange of the rupee was 39.49 to a dollar in March 1998 when the NDA government was first formed."It declined further to Rs. 42.84 in May 1999 when NDA again formed government after elections. Woman protesting against CM Narendra Modi groped, molested by cops

Ahmedabad: In yet another incident of molestation, a woman activist of Gujarat Parivartan Party (GPP) was allegedly misbehaved by unidentified policemen at Mani nagar area on Saturday.
                                    

While on Monday, the party workers of Gujarat Parivartan Party (GPP) lodged an FIR with Maninagar police station alleging misbehaviour of police with the woman activist.

 

Despite the fact, women constables were present at the spot, male constables came forward and allegedly misbehaved with women, said woman activists while talking to Divya Bhaskar.

 

The incident took place on Saturday, when the victim along with other members of the party was holding a protest against Narendra Modi government for poor infrastructure in the vicinity. Supreme Court dismisses plea for repoll if majority exercises NOTA option

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday refused to direct the Election Commission to hold fresh polls in case the majority of the electorate exercises 'None Of The Above Option' (NOTA) option recently introduced on its direction to allow voters to reject all the candidates.

New Delhi:  To spark off a new controversy, Former Director General of Police, KPS Gill said that governors are like ageing prostitutes. In a TV interview in Assam, Gill said that “In 1993, Rajesh Pilot requested me to become the governor of Manipur but I declined. Governors are like ageing prostitutes who wait without any work. I was never interested in that job”. 
                                   
                                

Gill was posted in Assam during the agitation between 1979 and 1985.

Bagpat (Uttar Pradesh)/New Delhi: Over two months after the communal riots that broke out in Muzaffarnagar and its surrounding districts, 75-year-old Nawab Begum alias Ballo is running from pillar to post to register a first information report (FIR) against four who allegedly killed her 25-year-old son Khalil on September 10 when he was returning home from Loni.

 

 

 

  

 This is despite a Supreme Court order which made it mandatory for the police to register an FIR immediately after a cognizable offence is reported to them.

New Delhi:  Soon after the most covetous and the highest civilian award Bharat Ratna was announced to be conferred on eminent scientist C.N.R. Rao, he called politicians “idiots”. In an angry outburst, with utter dissatisfaction, Rao targeted the politicians for the ‘inadequate’ funding that is given to the scientific community in the country.
                                         
Addressing a press conference in Bangalore after the announcement by the PMO office, he said that much more research work is needed in the field of science for which resources are needed. Brazilian parent offers child for SALE on OLX as it cried a lot

New Delhi: A baby in Brazil was offered for sale for £267 (Rs 27,000) on a website because the parent claims it will not let them sleep.According to Daily Mail, “Brazilian police have launched an investigation into the advert, which was posted on Tuesday on the OLX classified website. The advert features a baby of only a few months old dressed in a blue outfit, alongside the caption:  

                   

'Cries a lot and did not let me sleep and I have to work to survive.' The author, who does not disclose whether they are a man or a woman, provides a contact name and number for the city of Aparecida de Goiânia in the central state of Goias. The advert was active for more than 12 hours on the site before the company withdrew it for breaching the terms and conditions by advertising ‘inappropriate content’. Police Child Protection officer, Marcela Orçai, from Aparecida de Goiânia, said they are trying to track down the person who posted the advert. Dehradun/ Rishikesh: British Royal couple Prince Charles and Duchess of Cornwall arrived in Uttarakhand as part of their nine-day-long tour on Wednesday. The couple was received by Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna at Dehradun's Jolly Grant Airport.

The royal couple participated in 'aarti' at the banks of Ganga River. They also conducted a special 'havan' for world peace at Parmarth Niketan Ashram. At the ashram Charles advocated the conservation of nature and paid tribute to the victims of Uttarakhand natural disaster.

The guests stayed at the Ananda Resort in Narendra Nagar (Tehri). 

On Thursday, couple is scheduled to visit Indian Military Academy (IMA), where he will witness the training exercise along with the Duchess. He is also expected to visit the timber museum at the Forest Research Institute on Thursday where he will give a small speech about the importance and need to conserve forest.
