New Delhi: With Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi floundering on one assignment after another, sister Priyanka Gandhi may be pressed into service to ensure country's oldest political party holds on to its traditional bastions of Amethi and Rae Bareli; constituencies that send Rahul and Sonia to country's Parliament. Party insiders confirmed the news to mediapersons after Priyanka attended a meeting of senior Congress leaders held at Rahul's Tughlak Lane residencs in Lutyen's Delhi.
The Gandhi scion, however, was not present in the meeting. Party sources further confirmed that Priyanka would not be contesting the 2014 General Elections. The meeting was attended by political secretary to the Congress President.Ahmad Patel, media in-charge Ajay Maken, general secretary in-charge of organisation, Janardhan Dwivedi, Uttar Pradesh in-charge Madhusudan Mistry and rural development minister and close Rahul aide Jairam Ramesh.Read more
